Facebook.com: Soon you may be able to ‘silence’ your annoying Facebook friends – without it getting awkward

Soon you may be able to ‘silence’ your annoying Facebook friends – without it getting awkward: In the 13 years since it was created, Facebook has given us all sorts of amazing opportunities.
Facebook.com: Soon you may be able to 'silence' your annoying Facebook friends - without it getting awkward
We can reconnect with people we haven’t seen in years, are able to vet potential partners and, of course, can grub through our exes profiles – all thanks to Facebook.
Such is it’s appeal, the Queen is even reported to have a secret account.
But Facebook can also be an incredibly annoying place too. For example, we all have those friends who are constantly posting photos and updates of their umpteenth holiday, or whatever they’ve for lunch that day.
You could always unfriend them, but that might get awkward. Or you could just get new friends, but can you really be bothered?

Happily, Facebook may have a solution.
The social media giant is trialling a new feature, a ‘Snooze’ button for your mates, the Bath Chronicle reports. Much like the similar Whatsapp function, the feature would allow users to mute friends, Pages or Groups for 24 hours, seven days, 30 days – or even permanently.
It’s being trialled on top of the ‘unfollow’ option with a small group of users in the US and was spotted by Twitter user Media by Dre.
Facebook has not yet confirmed if the feature will be rolled out globally (but here’s hoping). To ‘Snooze’ a friend, all you have to do is click on the top right of a post and select the option.
Facebook told TechCrunch: “We’re testing new ways to give people control over their News Feed so they can stay connected with the stories they find most relevant.”
