In the latest news, the Management
of National Youth Service Corps has resolved to sustain its policy direction targeted towards the training and re-training of members of staff nationwide in order to encourage peak performance in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The Director, General Services and the Coordinating Director, Human Resource Management Department, Alhaji AbdulRasaq Salawu, disclosed this today while declaring open a one day Peak Performance Coaching Course for Assistant Directors and Public Relations Officers held at NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, Abuja.
Salawu noted that as a leading youth organisation in Nigeria and the African Continent, NYSC workforce must be trainable and up-to-date in order to conform with contemporary global trends.
He commended the Press and Public Relations Unit of the Scheme for initiating such an invaluable training which is in line with the policy directive of the management and urged other departments to replicate the positive development.
Earlier, the Director, Press and Public Relations, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, said the training is geared towards repositioning the staff of the scheme to reinvigorate the ‘can do spirit’, be at the top of the game and unlock the secret weapon of achieving the best practice in the workplace.
She stressed that the workshop also aimed at raising the standard and enhance the capacity of the Scheme to uphold peak performance and remain relevant to the peculiar challenges of Nigeria as a nation.
In his presentation on Work Ethics, Mr JFK Abiona, urged workshop participants to acquire new knowledge that is relevant to their official engagements.
He admonished them to enhance their personal integrity which will serve as a prelude to organisational achievements.
Speaking further, he said every staff must endeavour to work as team players without which organisational goals will become a mirage.
Abiona observed that NYSC has grown in leaps and bounds over the years and have the highest social capital in the country. He urged the staff to strive and sustain the achievements of the Scheme and work towards becoming the best in their chosen fields.
The one-day peak performance coaching was organised for members of staff of the Scheme by JFK Abiona Consultancy Firm as a Corporate Social Responsibility.
