What is Big Brother Naija, what is its history, and what are its goals?

As we have earlier outlined, this article aims to provide a thorough history of Big Brother Naija (BBNAIJA) and the objectives and a detailed explanation of what BBN is all about for those unfamiliar with it.

Big Brother Naija (BBNaija or BBN) is a Nigerian reality series hosted in South Africa (Season 4 to be hosted in Nigeria). It is shown exclusively on Multichoice-owned cable television, DSTV and GOTV. The show usually lasts for approximately three (3) months, reviewed primarily in weeks and days.

Objectives of the Show – BBNaija

BBnaija is based on the concept of “reality.” It’s a social experiment that brings people from various origins, cultures, and experiences together to live and work together. The show’s primary motivation is to promote unity indifference.

Housemates are free to live their “regular lives” and are encouraged to do so. They are allowed to do whatever they want as long as they don’t break the home rules.

BBNAIJA Housemates Meaning

Contestants are commonly referred to as “housemates” for the duration of the BBN show. They are usually chosen from a pool of candidates who have expressed an interest in becoming a part of the show. There have been approximately 50 housemates over the years.

Housemates must be mature adults who openly agree to follow all of the house rules.

BBNaija Location

The show is hosted in South Africa, as previously indicated. The pre-selection exercises, on the other hand, take place all over Nigeria. The locations of the auditions have been disclosed.

See How the Show is Run; What Happens in Big Brother House

The housemates of Big Brother Naija stay in the Big Brother Naija House for the show’s duration. The HMs do not have any interaction with the outer world. They are not permitted to bring any electronic devices into the residence. English is the only official language that can be used for communication. Unless required, the use of vernacular or any other “coded” means of communication is prohibited.

Meanwhile, the believed “owner” of the BB Naija house is “Huge Brother” or “Biggie” (an invisible voice represented by a giant eye). Within the home, Biggie is viewed as omnipresent. The look in the emblem represents his ability to see everything.

He has the final say in making laws and deciding how the house is run daily. In addition, he adds unexpected twists to keep things interesting.

It should be mentioned that the show has been held three times. Previous iterations were deemed to be very successful, resulting in a massive following across the continent. However, there have been several critiques in addition to the applause, particularly in light of the several recorded indecent scenes.

BBNaija History – Big Brother Naija

Endemol owns the global brand “Big Brother.” It is broadcast in several countries throughout the world. It can be traced back to George Orwell’s novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. In 1949, the book was published. The first episode of the show aired in the Netherlands. In 2003, however, the franchise expanded to Africa. Big Brother Africa aired for nine seasons before being cancelled. There was no formal justification offered.
