This week, after releasing it last year in other nations, Facebook rolled out its Avatar feature to users in the US.

The feature allows Facebook users, similar to Snapchat’s Bitmojii, to create their own cartoon avatar. In the comments box, Facebook stories, and the messenger, they can use the avatar.

Too many of our interactions are taking place online these days, which is why being able to express yourself directly on Facebook is more important than ever, Fidji Simo, the head of the Facebook app, said in a tweet.

“With so many emotions and expressions to choose from, avatars allow you to react more honestly and connect in the app with family and friends..,” added Simo.

Follow the steps below to build your own Facebook avatar if you can’t wait to try out the new feature. In the Facebook app, these screenshots were taken on iOS, but the steps are identical to the Android version.
