1. Install the Facebook Creator Mobile App

Step 1 Use the Facebook Creator app to download to your iOS device. Sorry Android users, at the moment this app is available for iOS only.

The Creator app is an update to the Mentions app that was previously only available for select individuals.

Mentions were introduced in 2014 to keep in contact with their followers and the individuals and things they care about on Facebook for celebrities, artists, and other influencers.

All Facebook profiles and pages for people, not organizations, have access to the Facebook Creator app.

When you first open the app, tap Get Started. On the next screen, tap Continue as [your name].

Tap Get Started when you open the app for the first time.

You can tap Continue as [your name] on the next screen.

Second, pick the profile or website that you want the app to use.

The app will show you which of the accounts qualifying for the Creator app are managed by you.

You can note in the image below that some of the accounts are grayed out and not Creator-eligible; these are all company sites.

You’ll need to try again with a profile or page set for a person if you hit a roadblock and it won’t let you sign up.

For example, Jeff Sieh of Manly Pinterest Tips couldn’t sign up for the Creator app when he was listed as a resource blog but could join when he changed the page to a video creator and podcast.

To see what categories you’ve picked, check the About section of your Facebook profile.

It is recommended by Facebook to pick Video Creator as the page type.

Tap Explore Facebook Creator after you select a page or profile.

2. For Brand Reusable Video Assets, use the Live Creative Kit

One of the most exciting Creator features is the Live Creative Package, which lets you personalize your live broadcasts.

You can add graphics with transparent backgrounds as video frames when you assemble your package, and upload intro and outro images. During your Facebook Live videos, these elements will reveal.

Configure a Live Creative Kit

You must use your desktop browser to set up a Live Creative Package.

Go to your website and press Settings if you’re making a package for your page. Then, on the left, open the Videos tab, and press Build Your Page Live Creative Package.

The steps are close to making a Live Creative Kit for your Facebook profile. Go to your profile and press the Settings timeline button. Then open the Video tab on the left and, next to the Live Creative Kit option, click Build.

Add a Custom Frame for Video

Uploading art to add a video frame to your Live Artistic Kit is the first choice. You may need to use transparent-background PNG files. At Canva for Work, I built mine. When your graphic is downloaded, make sure to pick Transparent Context.

Click the Upload Art button to upload your photos, or drag and drop your files. It takes a little trial and error to find the correct sizes and positioning of the graphics. I used graphics of 1080 x 1080 pixels and played around with the arrangement.

Select Next if you are setting up your picture.

Upload a Bumper Video

Now you have the option to add to your kit two vertical videos: an intro and an outro. These videos help to brand the videos on Facebook Live and create a community.

Remember how awesome it was to listen to your favorite TV show’s theme song growing up? Try to create an attractive and enjoyable intro video that suits your personality and offers insight into your presentation to viewers. The intro should set your videos’ style and sound.

The video intro and outro, as described above, need to be vertical and can’t exceed 180 seconds. With apps such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, or Wave, you can create vertical images.

Oh. Video. The videos must be in the 2:3 aspect ratio or 1080 x 1920 pixels, the wave-video mobile environment, which also works for stories from Instagram and Facebook.

Speaking of music, you can’t add any parts that you don’t have permission to your videos (live or recorded). The “less than 10 seconds of music” rule does not exist. Facebook says, “The music length doesn’t make a difference.” You can only use music that doesn’t violate someone else’s intellectual property rights.

Click Next when you are uploading your stuff.

Review the material that you added.

You will now see previews of the content you have added to your kit on Facebook. To view your content, use the Intro Video, Frame and Stickers, and Outro Video tabs in the lower right corner. Click Back and make your modifications if you need to make adjustments. Remember that items for mobile and desktop will be sized differently by the app.

Click Submit when you’re done with it. Notice that to get your Creative Package to turn up, you would need to log in and out of the app.

3. Apply Creator Brand Assets to your Facebook Live Broadcast

Open the Creator app when you’re ready to start a Facebook Live broadcast, launch a new update, and tap the Live Video option.

Then, tap the icon with three dots and turn your Live Creative Kit on.

Click the Red Live Video button if anything looks fine. Tap to add a definition to give viewers an idea of what your live-stream subject is. Maybe you’ll add a few emojis, too.

You’re going to see a countdown, and then you’re going to live on Facebook. Wait for it to autoplay when you’ve added an intro, and then start talking.

In your broadcast, carry a guest

To invite fans watching from an iOS or Android device into your broadcast, you can use the Live With a Friend feature. Although you can go live during a broadcast with more than one person, you can have only one guest at a time.

Swipe to the left before you see Live Viewers add a guest during your live video. Then tap a picture of the person you want to enter and tap Invite to Go Live.

Tap the X in the guest window if you want to delete a guest from your live video.

4. Explore Enhanced Video Insights

For videos that you post directly to your Facebook page or from the Creator app inside the app, you can get additional insights. Some of the information that you can use are here:

  • See how many viewers are watching live.
  • Track the amount of time they communicate with the video and when they drop off.
  • View a ranking of your video engagement.
  • View demographics, including age, location, and gender.

Tap the rightmost icon at the bottom of the screen to unlock insights into the Creator app.

5. Twitter and Instagram Crosspost Your Finished Live Video

If you’ve linked those accounts to your page or profile, the Creator app makes it easy to cross-post your content to Twitter and Instagram.

Tap the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner of your post once you’ve published it on Facebook. In the pop-up menu, to cross-post your content to those sites, tap Share to Instagram or share to Twitter.

Manage all comments from Facebook and Instagram with a single inbox

In a single inbox, the Creator app lets you respond to Facebook and Instagram comments. You can also respond via Messenger when you’re using Creator with your profile.

The combined inbox helps developers cultivate and react to questions and feedback in their communities. The more efficiently you communicate with your audience, the more likely it is for marketers to want to partner with you.
