Closing your own Shopify store: Since we have handled the last points of concern, it is time to close the store.
Step 1: Login to your store’s account.
Step 2: As a primary administrator, head to. Settings > Account.
For mobile users: From the Shopify app; select Store > Settings. Then under Store Settings; select Account.
Step 3: Scroll down to the bottom of the page and read the following.; Store Status, and clicks Sell or Close Store.
Step 4: In the popup box; click Close Store, and then enter your password when prompted.
Step 5: We must have a reason why you are closing the store and any feedback you have appreciated (optional). When you’re finished, click “Close Store.”
That is all – your store is closed. To confirm your store’s closure, visit the URL of your business, and confirm that the store is no longer being listed.
In case you change Your Mind
If at any point you decide you don’t want your Shopify online store open anymore, you are given 30 days to close and reopen it. Through this 30-day period, Shopify will guarantee that its data and configuration info will remain as is, with no changes.
After 30 days, all bets are considered invalid.
Another Option
Perhaps you’re still unsure about shutting things down but appreciate the advantages that closing the company offers.
Shopify does have a pause option that allows you to put the brakes on your store at a reduced rate of $14 per month (also called their Dormant plan).
Postponing your store is a bit different than canceling it outright, but there are a couple of things to consider.
By pausing your store, you effectively prevent browsers from completing your e-commerce checkout service. They are still able to freely browse the store while being unable to make the actual purchase(s).
You retain the ability to manage your store while it’s paused and will be contacted when it is resumed.
If the charges on your account remain overdue, you will be prompted to resolve those before pressing ‘pause’.
Similar to closing your store, it’s useful to close third-party apps running (specifically ones you pay for) to avoid charges while your store’s activity is limited.
