The pun was intended. Ford’s decision to produce an electric pickup edition of its best-selling F-150 pickup truck came as a clear indication that global demand for electric vehicles is growing.
And it’s not like Ford made a slacker, because the F-150 Lighting’s extended battery trim can go from 0 to 62 mph in under four seconds.According to Tesla, the Cybertruck’s rating for the same will be less than 6.5 seconds, hence the Lightning will steal the thunder from the Cybertruck.
2022 Ford F-150 Traditional Looks Work To The Lightning’s Advantage
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning’s design has been dubbed anti-Tesla by some. As is, it appears to be conventionally powered F-150s rather than an impending alien invasion. Fans of Star Wars and Star Trek may be interested in the Cybertruck, but everyone else just wants a truck that looks like a truck.
While the F-150 has the same aluminum shell as the previous F-150s, it has a steel structure on the interior that no other F-150 has since it is the strongest yet, according to Ford.

There are three charging methods available for the Ford F-150 Lightning. The first is a 32-amp Ford Mobile Charging Unit that comes standard with every lease or purchase and charges the Lightning in between 14 and 19 hours, depending on the battery trim.
You can choose between a 48-amp Ford Connected wall-mount charge station that takes 10 to 13 hours to charge and a 48-amp Ford Connected wall-mount charge station that takes 10 to 13 hours to charge.
Alternatively, the 80-amp Charge Station Pro can charge the XLT trim in just eight hours. It also has another significant benefit.
As A Workhorse, 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Is Impressive
The current Ford F-150 with the EcoBoost V6 engine has a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds. The Lightning doesn’t quite match this, but it keeps up the good work. The standard trim has a towing capacity of 7,700 pounds, while the XLT trim has a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds.
The base trim has a payload of 2,000 pounds, while the other trim has a payload of 1,800 pounds.
These aren’t huge numbers, but the Ford F-150 Lightning could be the best thing about 2022, based on its aesthetics, features, and cost.
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning’s Pricing Is A Strike
The Ford F-150 Lightning EV’s best feature is that it’s affordable to the general public. The base model costs around $40,000, while the XLT trim with extended battery costs nearly $53,000, excluding destination costs. And if you want a Lightning, Ford is taking reservations for only $100.
For instance, the GMC Hummer EV costs upwards of $112,000, while the Cybertruck is priced similarly at $39,000.
The price of the announced Chevrolet Silverado EV has not been revealed, but others, like the Bollinger B2 and the Lordstown Endurance, will be more expensive.
