BMW 2 Series Coupe: The All-New Features you Should know

The 2022 BMW 2-Series Coupe demonstrates that the German manufacturer is entering its most daring period yet. On the one hand, we have the divisive 2022 BMW 3 and 4 Series.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have the pencil-mustached 2 Series Coupe, which is still recovering from the anguish inflicted by the atrocity. Why are they so hell-bent on wrecking lovely cars?!

So, for the time being, let’s relax and ignore the design element. The performance and form factor of the 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe has been improved.

With turbocharged engines, the 2nd-Generation revamp has increased the power of this BMW while also increasing its size. The cabin is likewise consistent with the current generation of BMWs.

The hooligan RWD layout has been kept, and experts predict that the future 2022 BMW M2 will feature a manual transmission! The 2-Series carries a lot of weight because it is BMW’s most affordable heart-warming car to drive.

While the newest Bimmer in town appears to be in good shape in terms of performance and comfort, we can’t say the same for its questionable aesthetics.

Despite its appearance, the 2022 BMW 2 Series has the muscle to compete with the Cadillac CT4, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and Audi A3.

2022 BMW 2 Series Performance

In terms of performance, BMW has also given the second-generation 2 Series coupe a full overhaul.

The 2022 2 Series coupe will be available with the same two engine options as the previous model, but with improved performance and refinement.

The standard engine is a 2.0-liter Turbo Inline-4 with 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

The more powerful 3.0-liter Turbo Inline-6 with 382 HP and 369 lb-ft of torque will be found in the ‘M’ prefixed variants.

Both engines are mated to a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission. And we’re delighted BMW preserved the RWD configuration because it was the RWD system that characterized the fun of the smallest BMW coupe.

With all of the magic beneath the hood, we should expect impressive acceleration times, with the Inline-4 going from zero to sixty in 5.5 seconds and the Inline-6 with AWD going from zero to sixty in 4.1 seconds. The top speeds are electrically limited at 130 and 155 miles per hour.

2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe Exterior

The 2022 BMW 2 Series receives an exterior design change that is difficult to appreciate, addressing the elephant in the room. We believe BMW took the criticism of the 2022 3 Series and 4 Series grilles a little too seriously, as this one has too small kidney grilles!

Aside from that, there are a few design elements that don’t quite fit with the general layout, such as the front bumper’s on-the-nose triangles and the upside-down LED taillamp design.

The only thing that calms us down is the Bimmer’s side profile, which reminds us of the car’s small wheelbase, which makes it so much pleasure to drive. The new 2-Series is longer, wider, and lower than the previous model.

It retains the powerful shoulder and hood lines, and the dubious grille conceals vertical air flaps that expand in 10 phases to help with engine cooling.

2022 BMW 2-Series Coupe Elegant Interior

BMW has a long history of treating their drivers like royalty. With its focused cockpit layout and the dashboard tilted ever-so-smoothly to the driver, the 2022 BMW 2 Series continues to do so.

The layout is really practical, and both rows are pretty comfortable for a vehicle of this size.

The extra depth creates a more spacious interior. Throughout the lineup, leather upholstery is standard.

In terms of technology, BMW offers a 12.3-inch completely digital instrument cluster and a head-up display as options.

It does, however, come with an old-school analog layout as standard. The infotainment system is well-organized and comes with either an 8.8-inch touchscreen or a 10.3-inch touchscreen as an option.

A rotary controller, similar to those used in Mazdas, can be used to handle the infotainment system in addition to the steering-wheel controls.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 10-speaker audio system are all standard features.

BMW also offers an upgradeable 14-speaker 464W Harman Kardon system for audiophiles.

2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe: Trims And Affordability

The 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe comes in two different trim levels: 230i Coupe and M240i Coupe.

Both of these grades will be available in RWD and AWD, and we’re delighted BMW didn’t abandon the highly praised RWD arrangement for 2021.

In terms of pricing, BMW has announced that the 2022 2 Series will begin at $36,350 for the base 230i RWD trim and end at $48,550 for the top-of-the-line M240i xDrive trim.

We predict the price difference between sDrive (RWD) and xDrive (AWD) variants to be roughly $2,000.

The 2022 BMW 2-Series Coupe has been confirmed for a November 2021 introduction in the United States.

Many of the rumors that have been circulating for the past two years have proven to be genuine.

Making dramatic moves isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but switching from a cult design language to a jumbled bag doesn’t appear to be that beneficial.

But we only hope BMW hasn’t taken away the 2-Series’ fun-to-drive attributes, which made it a fan favorite in the first place.
