Fast Cars – The automobile industry has witnessed rapid evolution with respect to performance and styling from the different car brands. The most renowned and pacesetter is the horsepower that each car possesses. Some automakers have continued to raise the bar with even more powerful vehicles while others focus their attention on other things.
The primary fitt to compare cars against one another and for bragging rights still remains the horsepower that is why some wagons and three-row SUV makers boost them up with 603 and 710-horsepower engines respectively. To differentiate cars when it comes to performance, features like zero-to-60 mph times, cornering G-force, or quarter-mile times are employed.
However, there’s no incentive to having one of the fastest cars in the world beyond giving credit to the automakers. The vehicles below are some of the fastest in the world as this article is set to analyze their performances.
SSC ULTIMATE AERO: 256 MPH

The Ultimate Aero stole the show in 2007 with a twin-turbo version of the car. With its original 6.3-liter V-8 that was switched with a 6.9-liter engine, the vehicle made a top speed of 256.1outperforming Bugatti Veyron.
The SSC came with 1,183 horsepower and 1,094 pound-feet of tap, not too convinced with the vehicle’s performance the power was further increased to 1,300 horses toward the end of production. The record set by SSC in 2007 was kept till 2010 when the Veyron Super Sport came to take it back. The Ultimate Aero was discontinued in 2013 after several limited-edition models.
KOENIGSEGG AGERA R: 260 MPH
The Agera RS came into existence from 2011 to 2014. Under its hood was a legendary 5.0-liter V-8 engine, capable of up to 1,124 horsepower and 885 pound-feet of torque. The Agera R was nearly as fast as the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport at 260 mph which made it the fastest of its kind. The car’s performance got the attention of thousands of enthusiasts including the Swedish firm makers whos used this car to set a handful of records for production cars in 2011,
BUGATTI VEYRON SUPERSPORT: 268 MPH

The Bugatti Veyron is among the fastest supercars ever built. Produced in 2005, its performance still marches the current supercar of today with the record it set in 2010. The Veyron Super Sport comes with an 8.0-liter W-16 rated at 1,184 horsepower, 197 which is more than the regular model with a top speed of 267.8 mph. In celebrating Veyron supersport, Bugatti came up with 30 special cars called World Record Edition with a limited 258 mph to protect the vehicle tires.
HENNESSEY VENOM GT: 270 MPH
This supercar had only 13 units produced based on the Lotus Exige. Being introduced into the market in 2011 spanning to 2017, the modified Venom GT features a twin-turbo, 7.0-liter V-8 engine under the hood. Based on General Motors’ LS7 V-8, the unit pumps out up to 1,244 horsepower and 1,155 pound-feet of torque. This beast made a top speed of 270.4 mph on Kennedy Space Center’s shuttle landing strip in Florida in 2014.
This incredible performance was higher than the world record at the time, it did not qualify for the Guinness Book of Records because Hennessey’s run was in a single direction and also having on 13 units built worked seriously against it making the Guinness Book of Records.
MCLAREN SPEEDTAIL: 250 MPH
Introduced in 2019, the McLaren Speedtail is a hybrid, combining a twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V-8 gasoline engine with an electric motor. Hitting 250 mph makes it the company’s fastest vehicle. The McLaren Speedtail succeed the iconic F1 mostly because it features a three-seat layout with the driver’s seat in the center. However, the British firm has yet to release proof of its claims of the Speedtail capabilities.
BUGATTI CHIRON: 261 MPH
The Bugatti Chiron was introduced in 2016 as a replacement for the Veyron, the Chiron comes with the same quad-turbo W-16 engine, however, its power was upgraded to 1,479 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. The Chiron makes a top speed of 261 mph.
