Nissan Skyline R34 Classic Features You Need To Know

The Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R (1999 – 2002), happens to be the last of the Skyline GT-Rs in the production line with the ‘Skyline’ part of the name-dropped. This angry-looking four-seat coupe is the darling of Japanese import cars full of technical brilliance. Being cheap, with a reliable turbocharged straight-six engine, sharp handling and squared-off Japan-tough body styling made it one of the most sought after.

Its legendary 2.6-liter RB26DETT straight-six twin-turbo motor with 2.8 in some variants produces an impressive 276bhp from the factory. Although it wasn’t officially admitted by anyone as it was tested in the 330bhp range. This six-speed manual transmission has lost its place with modern gear. Terms associated with the Skyline were super-HICAS four-wheel steer, ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All-Terrain) four-wheel drive and a limited-slip diff at either end, the rearmost being active on the V-Spec cars.

The Interior Of The R34 GTR
The R34’s interior is simple but exquisitely designed, as its controls are within reach and user-friendly. Cruising at about 120 km/h the cabin still remains remarkably quiet.
The multifunctional display on the dashboard is centrally located making it accessible to both the driver and its co-occupant.

The R34 Multi-Function-Display (MFD) shows many of the car’s engine stats including boost pressure, oil temp, water temp, G-meter, lap times and more. As a 1999 car, this kind of technology was very rare and advanced at the time.

Beneath this display, you find the climate control buttons followed by a standard four-speaker audio system with a CD player. Other features include power windows, central locking, A/C, and a tilt-adjustable steering wheel.

The interior has a combination of leather and some plastic under the skin. It has a comedic face-off radio with more LEDs. The GT-R is not known to have a captivating interior but be rest assured that you will have a smooth ride with this day-to-day ride.

There is plenty of space in the front with the two comfortable bucket seats offering perfect side support when cornering. The rear seat can only accommodate a young adult because it doesn’t offer much in terms of space. The boot is space to accommodate more luggage.

The ‘N1’ variants were specially made for racing that’s why they came without the rear wiper, air-con, or radio. Getting one of such will be a catastrophe to its occupant. Although a few did leak out into the real world.
