MediaTek Helio P35

MediaTek Helio P35 scores 86,352 in benchmark, indicates better performance than SD625 SoC

Xiaomi just unveiled its newest smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi Play, which is the company’s first smartphone under its new Play series. The phone was also the first smartphone in the world to be powered by the MediaTek Helio P35 chipset.

Prior to the official unveiling of the phone, MediaTek did not release its latest chipset, the Helio P35. However, we learned more about the Helio P35 chipset during the Mi Play unveiling, when its specifications were revealed on stage.

The MediaTek Helio P35 chipset has now been benchmarked, and it received a score of 86,352 points, which is slightly higher than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625. Helio P35’s performance, according to the firm, is superior to SD625. However, the Helio P35’s benchmark score is still lower than Qualcomm’s newest mid-range processor, the Snapdragon 636.

The MediaTek Helio P35 is an octa-core chipset based on the advanced 12nm FinFET node from TSMC. It has eight Cortex-A53 cores, each clocked at 2.3GHz. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 has the same type and number of cores as the Snapdragon 630 but runs at 2.2GHz. The Helio P35, on the other hand, will be able to provide greater performance and battery life due to its 12nm design, as opposed to the Snapdragon 630’s 14nm design.

It has Imagination’s PowerVR GE8320 graphics processor, which is the same GPU as in the Helio P22 but runs at 680MHz. The Helio P35, according to the firm, supports FHD+ displays with a 20:9 aspect ratio.

LPDDR3 and LPDDR4x RAM (4GB and 6GB) are supported, as well as eMMC 5.1 storage. Dual 13MP cameras or a single 25MP camera are also supported. There’s also a hardware depth engine, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), and Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC), which eliminates the “jello effect” when capturing fast-moving objects.

Face ID (Face Unlock) powered by AI, a smart photo book, and multi-frame noise reduction are also included on the Helio P35. It has dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, VoLTE, and ViLTE for connectivity.
