Meanwhile, Zidane won the Ballon d’Or with Juventus in 1998, while Lebouef is referring to the years 2000 and 2006.

In 2000, the Real Madrid legend finished second, and just weeks before Luis Figo’s victory, Zidane was sent off for a headbutt against Hamburg, receiving a five-game suspension as a result.

Toni Kroos, a Real Madrid midfielder, has slammed the decision to award the Ballon d’Or to Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain this year.
