2022 Mercedes S-500 – The 2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the brand’s flagship luxury car. For this year, Its lineup is reduced to just a sedan. However, it remains the industry standard for luxury and technology. The S-Class takes on the likes of the Audi A8, BMW 7-Series, and Lexus LS.

The S500 is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine that produces 429 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. The 48-volt mild-hybrid starter-generator plays a vital role in the car’s acceleration to 21 hp and 184 lb-ft-feet of torque. It attains the 0-60 mph time at 4.8 seconds.

Going for the S580 4Matic, it comes with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 with an output of 496 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque and a mild-hybrid system. It hits the 0-60 mph time in 4.4 seconds for the standard S-Class and 4.7 seconds in the larger, heavier Maybach S580. These engines are accompanied by a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Still to come is the Maybach S680 4Matic featuring a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V-12 that will produce 621 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque as well as make the 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

The S-Class comes with a decent fuel economy as the turbo-6-powered S500 4Matic delivers 21/30/24 mpg. The large S580 sedan gets 15/25/18 mpg while the V-8-powered S580 4Matic gets 16 mpg city, 25 highway, 19 combined. The Maybach S680 is not yet rated.

Pricing
The S500 4Matic sedan model that features leather upholstery; power seats with heating, cooling, and massage; a panoramic sunroof; navigation; wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; Burmester audio; gesture controls; and 19-inch alloy wheels comes with a staggering $112,150. Other S-Class models such as the Maybach S580 4Matic cost $185,950, while the forthcoming Maybach S680 4Matic will certainly start over $200,000.

Safety
2022 Mercedes S-500 – The S-Class’s standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam LED headlights, active lane control, active blind-spot monitors, a surround-view camera system, adaptive cruise control with stop and go and speed-limit recognition, evasive steering assist, automatic parking, a driver-attention monitor, an exit warning system, and a dashcam.
