Fisker has brought a lot into the development of the Autoworld and the arrival of the Ocean is seen as yet another milestone for him as a person and his brand.

The crossover is offered in three different trims with quality materials used both in the interior and exterior styling. The Ocean boasts an enormous 17.1-inch Revolve center screen with “Hollywood Mode, a feat that only Fisker has perfected for now in addition to its solar roof panel which Fisker claims can supply between 1,500 and 2,000 miles of range per year if you park your Fisker in a sunny spot all the time. The 2023 Fisker Ocean SUV is offered in three different trims, Ocean Sport, Ocean Ultra, and Ocean Extreme. Expect a two-wheel drive or all-wheel drive depending on the model you opt for.

To kick start the experience, the front-wheel-drive Ocean Sport serves as the base trim, delivering 250 miles of range, 275 hp. Fisker claims a zero-to-60-mph time of 6.9 seconds is what the base model has to offer hence slamming a starting price tag of $37,499.

Things get more interesting with the Ocean Ultra offering 340 miles of range and a massive 540-hp dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup. It hits 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. The Ocean Ultra comes with a price tag of $49,999.

The Ocean Extreme builds on the Ultra, delivering 350 miles of range and an extra 10 hp for a staggering price of $68,999. Fisker is yet to release torque figures for any Ocean at the moment. However, Ocean Extreme archives the zero-to-60 mph in 3.6 seconds.

Fisker has made it known that the first 5,000 vehicles produced will be Ocean One models a limited edition series also priced at $68,999 with the same 550 hp and 350 miles of range and more standard equipment than the Extreme.

The Exterior Design
“The Ocean has a dimension of 4,780mm long, which, to put in context, it’s about the same length as the BMW X3 or the Tesla Model Y. The wheelbase is 2,920mm – it’s pretty long, but that’s because we also have a lot of space for batteries. I mean, we have the longest battery range in the world in our price class.” says Fisker.

Ocean Extreme and One model will come with solar roof panels Fisker claims can supply between 1,500 and 2,000 miles of range per year if you park your Fisker in a sunny spot all the time. And to up the wind-in-your-hair experience, Ocean Ultra, Extreme, and One model will be available with a “California Mode” which, at the press of a button, lowers eight glass panels throughout the cabin simultaneously to turn the Ocean into a de-facto convertible SUV.

In the words of Fisker himself, “We have super-thin modern lights, both front, and rear. We did a lot with the aerodynamics, too, and it’s got a flat floor.” Entry-level cars will come with 20-inch alloy wheels, while range-topping models will feature 22-inch alloy wheels.

The Interior Design
Fisker Ocean SUV Features – Fisker gives the Ocean a clean and futuristic cabin with recycled materials such as plastics, used clothes, and renewed rubber. There is plenty of head and legroom in the front and at the back, with good access, too. Rear space is boosted by a floating center console that lets you put your feet underneath. The Ocean’s roof features a solar panel, which drip-feeds the SUV’s battery pack also.

The Ocean’s bonnet has been fixed shut. The space gained under the nose houses the SUV’s electronics and a next-generation, ultra-efficient air-conditioning unit, which Fisker says increases the amount of available cabin space.

The Ocean comes up with a button-less dash and a massive rotating screen first in the history of the automobile industry. The 17.1-inch Revolve center screen with “Hollywood Mode” can be rotated from a vertical-orientation portrait mode to a widescreen landscape mode when the vehicle is parked. This allows customers to turn the cabin into a movie-theater-like cocoon for passing the time while, say, the Ocean is being charged. The 17.1-inch infotainment system offers support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Fisker also says it plans to include an augmented reality navigation system, although the specifics of the hardware are yet to be confirmed.

The Ocean has two different battery configurations for its different trims. Ocean Sports uses lithium-ion phosphate battery-cell while Ocean Ultra and Ocean Extreme cars use battery packs with nickel-manganese-cobalt cells. Both batteries are being supplied by Contemporary Amperex Technology Company (CATL), a Chinese battery manufacturer that specializes in electric vehicle batteries. Fisker employed the different technologies to keep the price of the Sport model as low as possible and give the Ultra and Extreme cars what Fisker describes as “segment-leading range and performance”.

Fisker did admit that the battery in the Ultra and Extreme models called the ‘Hyper Range’ battery pack was “much bigger” than 80kWh. The standard battery pack in the Sport model is called the ‘Touring Range’.

Fisker says the Ocean will have the two-way charging capability that allows its battery to be used as a backup source of energy, providing power to other electric vehicles or even to the customer’s home in case of an emergency or to offset peak electricity cost periods.

Safety Features
Fisker Ocean SUV Features – Fisker uses radar, ultrasonic sensors, and cameras as part of its advanced driver assistance system, dubbed Fisker Intelligent Pilot. Standard on the Sport are automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, intelligent speed assist, emergency lane departure avoidance, and traffic sign recognition. The Ultra ups that with a 360-degree surround-view parking camera in 2D, a better automatic emergency braking system, and reverse collision mitigation. One and Extreme models get a 3D surround-view camera, automatic parking assist, door opening warning, and traffic light recognition.
