All You Need to Know About Samsung Galaxy S22

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is currently available for purchase. The Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra are part of the lineup, which is sure to be another fascinating chapter in Samsung’s long-running smartphone tale.

With a stylish appearance and a S Pen, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is unquestionably the crown gem of the current lineup. The Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, on the other hand, are more approachable and user-friendly handsets, with a familiar design and a lower price tag.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Release date

The Galaxy S22 series was unveiled today, February 9, at a special online-only Galaxy Unpacked event.

That’s also when pre-orders for any of the phones are expected to arrive, but, as is customary, some people may get their phones sooner than others.

Specifications

Display

In comparison to last year’s Galaxy S21 series, Samsung’s display sizes have been marginally reduced across the board. As a result, there will be a Galaxy S22 with a 6.1-inch display, a Galaxy S22 Plus with a 6.6-inch display, and a Galaxy S22 Ultra with a 6.8-inch display. The Galaxy S22 Ultra can dynamically switch between 1 and 120 frames per second depending on the on-screen content the user is watching, whilst the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus can switch between 48 and 120 frames per second.

Performance

Depending on the area, the Galaxy S22 series is powered by Samsung’s Exynos and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon top chipset. The most recent Qualcomm chipset uses a 4nm manufacturing process and has a high-performance Cortex-X2 core clocked at 3000 MHz, three Cortex-A710 cores clocked at 2500 MHz, and Cortex-A510 cores clocked at up to 1800 MHz.
The 4nm Exynos 2200 features the most up-to-date ARM-based CPU cores as well as an enhanced neural processing unit (NPU), giving it a significant advantage in mobile gaming, photography, and social media apps. It also has the AMD RDNA 2 GPU, which for the first time brings ray tracing to mobile GPUs and promises great gaming performance.

Our Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S22+ doesn’t differ significantly from the Galaxy S21+ from 2021, and many may find no incentive to upgrade – it’s essentially the same design and experience, albeit with minor tweaks. It also suffers from being in the shadow of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which was just updated.

This is a shift from 2021: with the addition of the S Pen to the top S22 Ultra, some may believe the phone is moving in a direction they don’t want to go.

The Samsung Galaxy S22+ is a fantastic phone at its heart. It’s well-made, has a wonderful display and audio, is easy to use, and has a decent battery life. For a little less money, you may enjoy a similar experience with the S21 FE or S21+.

If you’re upgrading from an older Samsung phone, the Galaxy S22+ makes a lot of sense: it’ll perform well in all areas, but it won’t be a significant upgrade over the prior model.
