Setup Your Facebook Business Account to Sell on Facebook Marketplace

Everyone is familiar with Facebook as a platform for keeping up with loved ones, sharing images, and finding interest-related groups. But did you know that you can use Facebook to start an online store and even sell goods there? All you need is a Facebook account that is active!

An increasingly popular alternative to garage sales is online selling. Facebook Marketplace is a free service that links you with local buyers for casual sellers. However, there are limitations on what you can sell, and making a name for yourself on the platform may require some skill.

What you need to know about selling on Facebook Marketplace is provided here.

How to market your products on Facebook

Facebook Marketplace is available on both desktop and mobile devices.

On a Computer

1. Open Facebook and, if necessary, log into your account.

2. In the left sidebar, select Marketplace.

3. Press Create New Listing.

4. Decide on an item for sale.

5. Add a photo of your item by clicking Add Photos.

6. Include the details of your product. If you want to list it as a free item, enter 0 for the price. Choose Next.

7. If necessary, select the delivery method and press Next.

8. To publish the listing, click Publish.

On Mobile

1. Launch the Facebook app and, if necessary, log into your account.

2. Click the Marketplace button in the bottom toolbar’s center.

3. Choose Sell.

4. Select Items under Create New Listing in the pop-up.

5. Click Next after adding your item’s details and at least one photo.

6. Select a delivery strategy and press Publish.

Payment Options on Facebook Marketplace

The seller decides how to be paid on Facebook Marketplace. However, the business advises using Messenger or PayPal to receive payment at the moment of sale.

Messenger can also be used to decide on the payment option that will benefit both parties the most. You might discuss a cash handoff when the buyer picks up their goods, assuming they’re local, if you prefer PayPal or Venmo but they don’t have those.

shipping and returns for Facebook Marketplace

The shipping feature is only available if you’re selling through a shop. So, in addition to everything else, you’ll have to pay a selling fee of 5% every shipment, or a flat price of $0.40 for orders of $8 or less.

You’ll have a predetermined window of time following each purchase to ship the item to the buyer once you’ve registered for online checkout and shipping. If not, Facebook will delete or cancel the order. You have the option of paying for delivery yourself or delegating responsibility to the buyer. For items that employ the shipping option, you must provide tracking information and designate the box as shipped in order to receive payment.
