Mybanfield Benefits

Covers preventive and routine care

The Optimum Wellness Plans are designed only to pay for your pet’s normal care, unlike insurance policies. Instead of paying for greater sums all at once, the plans may let owners budget and spread out payments for services with a monthly cost.

Customizable with multiple tiers and add-ons

The Banfield plans come in a variety of tiers, with higher tiers being more expensive and offering more services. Spaying and neutering, as well as coverage for parasite control methods, are other options.

No waiting periods

Banfield’s coverage begins immediately upon enrollment.

Company Overview

Banfield is a company that owns and runs more than 1,000 veterinary clinics around the country. It was founded in Portland, Oregon, in 1955. The Mars Corporation, which also owns M&Ms, Snickers, and Twix, acquired it in 2007.

The Optimum Wellness Plans are exclusively offered for dogs and cats, even though Banfield facilities will treat a wide range of pets. Plans are accessible to residents of all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia; however, they only cover services provided at Banfield hospitals. You can enroll at a Banfield hospital or online. 2 To determine whether it would be a viable choice, look at the services provided and locate any Banfield hospitals in the area.

Available Plans

Banfield offers five Optimum Wellness Plans: three for adult dogs and cats, and two for puppies and kittens under six months old.

  • Dog/Cat wellness plans: Active Care, Active Care Plus, Special Care
  • Puppy/Kitten wellness plans: Early Care, Early Care Plus

Depending on the plan and plan level you select, different treatments and coverage amounts apply. Some approved services have annual restrictions on how many times they can be provided; if your pet needs more frequent care, you will be responsible for the additional costs. Banfield may provide a percentage discount if your pet needs a service that is not offered in the plan you have selected.

Banfield’s Optimum Wellness Plans only cover preventative treatments—see our selections for the best pet insurance companies for plans that cover accidents and illnesses as well.
