The hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants will likely use a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine as the primary source of power. In the hybrid, the combined output between the engine and electric motor stands at about 226 hp and 258 lb-ft. The plug-in hybrid is a bit more powerful; Hyundai estimates the entire system makes 260 hp. Hyundai also says the plug-in can travel up to 28 miles on electricity alone when fully charged.
Tucson Safety
2021 Hyundai Tucson – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2021 Hyundai Tucson an overall safety rating of five out of five stars. Tucson earned five stars in the frontal and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover test.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2021 Tucson the highest rating of Good in all six crash tests. Tucson trims with halogen headlights received the lowest rating of Poor for how well the headlights illuminate the road ahead. Models with LED headlights were rated Good for forward visibility.

The 2021 Tucson has a predicted reliability score of 88 out of 100. A J.D. Power predicted reliability score of 91-100 is considered the Best, 81-90 is Great, 70-80 is Average, and 0-69 is Fair and considered below average. Hyundai covers Tucson with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a five-year/60,000-mile limited warranty.
