Here Is Why The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Is A Great SUV

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a midsize SUV that comes with impressive off-road capabilities and upscale features. The car has two-row seat compared to the 2021 Grand Cherokee L whose massive size made room for three-row comfortably accommodating seven passengers as against five passengers from its 2022 successor. The midsize SUV wheelbase and the overall length are shorter than the L’s lengthened measurement by 5.0 inches and 11.4 inches respectively. This reduction in size affects the interior room space of the midsize SUV a great deal.

“The Jeep Grand Cherokee is our global flagship and will be leading the Jeep brand into a new era of premium refinement, innovative technology, advanced 4×4 capability and electrification,” said Christian Meunier, Jeep Brand Chief Executive Officer.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is designed and engineered to deliver even more of what has made this Jeep SUV a true global icon in the premium SUV segment such as the arrival of the 4xe (PHEV) technology target to deliver an estimated 25 miles of all-electric range, 57 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) and a combined driving range of more than 440 miles (708 km). This is the most 4×4-capable and sustainable Grand Cherokee with a commitment to “Zero Emission Freedom”. The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a midsize SUV that comes in five trim levels and the are Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland and Summit. Let take a look at some of its features.

The Interior Design

The Grand Cherokee has a fully overhauled interior. The dash has a neat horizontal layout and features leather and wood inlays on the dash. Like the Grand Cherokee L, the Grand Cherokee is offered with Jeep’s latest Uconnect 5 infotainment system and can be had with a 10.1-inch center touchscreen; the standard one is 8.4 inches. All Grand Cherokees come with a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, and you can also outfit yours with an additional 10.25-inch interactive display for the front passenger. Available rear-seat entertainment comes courtesy of two 10.1-inch displays on the back of the front seats that are powered by Amazon Fire TV. The Grand Cherokee’s midsize length has chopped off 13.8 cubic feet less cargo space of the first row, as well as 1.2 inches less second-row legroom.

The engine performance

The big news with the Grand Cherokee is that Jeep is offering it as a plug-in hybrid. The Grand Cherokee dubbed 4xe uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and two electric motors to supply the oomph. with an estimated output rated at 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. A 17-kWh battery pack also affords an estimated all-electric driving range of 25 miles.

The Grand Cherokee also comes with some gas-only engines to pick from. The first is a standard 3.6-liter V6 that makes 293 horsepower. The other option is a burly 5.7-liter V8 that makes 357 horsepower. Max towing is rated at 6,000 pounds for the 4xe, 6,200 pounds with the V6 and 7,200 pounds with the V8. All engines route their power through an eight-speed automatic transmission to either the rear or all four wheels.

Pricing
Pricing hasn’t been announced yet for the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we can only work on leak information and even if the leaked information isn’t spot-on accurate, it should be very close and that means a modest price increase from 2021 is coming. The new entry-level model is the Laredo, starting at $37,390. Compare that to the outgoing Laredo E with a starting MSRP of $34,970, which is $2,420 cheaper. That’s not an unreasonable jump for a new-generation vehicle, but it does get a bit pricey on the high end with the range-topping Summit Reserve at $63,365. Still, it’s not as much as the current Grand Cherokee SRT or Trackhawk, neither of which are offered for 2022.

The breakdown of the leaked 2022 Grand Cherokee trim levels and starting prices are
Laredo at $37,390, Altitude follows with $41,945 with Limited going for as much as $43,710.
Trailhawk (AWD only) was $50,275, Overland was placed at $53,305, Summit $57,365 and Summit Reserve (AWD only) at $63,365.
All figures are for two-wheel-drive models unless otherwise noted. Destination charges are currently unknown.
