How Facebook Dating Works
Facebook Dating is a digital dating service created by the social media giant. There is presently no web version; it is only available on Android and iOS through the Facebook mobile app.
Users can sort results by location, number of children, religion, age, or height, and match with other users within a 100-kilometer radius. There’s also an option to check for users who are momentarily in or out of range, as well as a Lucky Match filter that broadens the search by extending the user’s regular limitations. Users that have matched can start a voice chat with one other.
When was Facebook Dating Lunched
In May 2018, Facebook unveiled the feature at their F8 developer conference. At the conference, the service was not fully revealed, but guests were promised that additional information will be forthcoming soon. Within a few months following the conference, the feature was in internal beta testing.
On September 20, 2018, Facebook Dating made its debut in Colombia. As the dating service was still in the testing stages, users helped to shape how it will appear to future users. If the testing goes well, Facebook says it will become a more visible element of the existing Facebook app.
In October 2018, the second expansion began in Canada and Thailand. Australia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Guyana, and Suriname are among the 14 new countries to receive the feature. Colombia, Thailand, Canada, Argentina, and Mexico have all used the service for a year. It lets users to connect with people from all over the world and is not limited to where they live.
On September 5, 2019, Facebook Dating was partially launched in the United States.
Some users are reporting that the app would not allow them to opt into Facebook Dating at all, despite the fact that others can log in and access it.
In October 2020, Facebook Dating will be available in Europe.
How to find Facebook Dating
Facebook Dating is accessed through the Facebook app, which you most likely already have on your phone. (Dating is only available on the company’s iOS or Android apps; it is not available on the company’s website.)
Navigate to the Menu in the bottom right corner of the Facebook app. If you haven’t already, Facebook will prompt you to create a Dating profile in the top right corner of the screen. There’s not much you can do on this front because Facebook already has images and some information about you, but you can alter the information whatever you want.
In your profile, the app asks you some additional questions, such as your interests (sports, hobbies), whether you have children, and your height.
Set up your match choices next. You can select these people based on their age, gender identity, height (if that’s important to you), languages spoken, and distance from you. You can also specify someone’s educational level, whether or not they have children, and religious convictions.
Facebook, like other dating apps like Bumble, asks what you’re looking for in a partner. Unlike Bumble, you have the option of selecting many options, which include “chatting” and “friendship.”
