The Toyota Noah and Voxy minivans have been around since late 2001. The 2022 models were unveiled by the Japanese automaker in Japan bolder than ever. Toyota’s products are well known for their excellent performance, durability, and affordability. As such, Toyota is targeting to sell 8,100 units of the Noah and 5,400 units of the Voxy per month.
We have to stress here that Noah and Voxy are the same vehicles as the minivans come with two design themes targeted at two different demographics. They both possess a massive front grille, though the Noah features horizontal bars while the Voxy combines that with a mesh pattern at its sides.
Matching the two minivans side-by-side, both of them are practically the same. This is not the case with the rear features as the Noah comes with a red LED taillight, while the Voxy comes with clear full-width LED taillights. This minivan is certainly the family’s favorite. Toyota claims it’s the first car manufacturer to install a “free-stop rear hatch door” for the versions that don’t have the power-operated tailgate. How does it work? Simply pushing the rear door stops it at any angle courtesy of a Karakuri mechanism.
The Interior Design of the Noah and Voxy
Both minivans measure 184.8 inches long, 68.1 inches wide, and 74.6-75.8 inches tall each. These spacious minivans can accommodate up to eight passengers depending on the configuration. Inside the van, are decent amounts of soft-touch plastics. The seats are very comfortable and accommodating for both cruising and distance journeys.
Other features onboard the Noah and Voxy include an 8 or 10.5-inch infotainment system, underfloor trunk storage, and a few optional extras such as a premium sound system and a rear entertainment system.
The minivans also come with a list of options from Toyota’s PWD-friendly set of features. Welcab gives unobtrusive access to those in a wheelchair, while Weljoin consists of side lift-up tilt seats for those who find it difficult to step onto the minivan.
The Powertrain

The Toyota Noah and Voxy are powered by either a 2.0-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder gasoline engine that’s accompanied by a 10-speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic for fun shift changes with the feeling of a manual. This is Mated to a Direct Shift CVT with a first actual gear or a new 1.8-liter hybrid powertrain with a more powerful electric motor and a bigger battery. Toyota has not announced any figures for the two powertrains, though they did confirm that both can be optioned with all-wheel drive (AWD).
Safety Features
Noah and Voxy feature an enhanced Toyota Safety Sense suite of advanced driver-assistance tech that is now bundled with what Toyota calls Teammate. Just like in the European-market Corolla Cross, Teammate’s main highlight is Advanced Park, wherein hybrid models come with a remote function that enables drivers to remotely park the vehicle or leave a parking space using a smartphone.
In addition, Teammate consists of a Toyota-first Advanced Drive, which enables hands-free and feet-free driving on certain roads and road conditions in Japan. The system works in conjunction with the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Lane Tracing Assist at speeds of up to 25 mph.
