C10, The Last Pure-Combustion Pagani To Hit The Road

It is more than a decade since the launch of the Pagani Huayra, its replacement has been keenly awaited by many. A rendering, allegedly of the C10, appeared on a new and anonymous Instagram account last week, accompanied by a picture of a document allegedly targeted at potential buyers, suggesting the leak came from an early customer presentation. The original pictures have now been taken down, but are circulating widely online, and Pagani has yet to comment.

The design on the Instagram account blends with various elements of previous Pagani designs as it features skylights in the roof, a wide front grille, and a teardrop cabin shape. The two small rear wings and angular front bonnet, in particular, evoke the styling of some of the earliest Pagani models, such as the C12 S.

New features can also be seen across the car. Small winglets in the front grille appear to be possible aerodynamic aids, while subtle yet sizeable air intakes on the roof and across the rear buttresses all but confirm that the C10 will be powered by an internal combustion engine. Notably, the C10 is expected to be the last pure-combustion Pagani, with future models being hybridized.

It’s thought that around 300 C10s are currently planned for production, with Pagani claiming that demand has already been high. The Italian company has said that interest from American customers alone could have filled the entire production run. As with Paganis of the past, other variants, including a roadster, will also make up some of the total production numbers. We’ll likely see the next Pagani model make its debut in the second half of 2022.

Also seen on the exterior styling of the car are new features such as small winglets in the front grille that appear to be possible aerodynamic aids that could help cement previous claims by Pagani that it intends to focus more on handling with the C10, rather than all-out power. In an interview with Italian magazine Quattroruote, founder and boss Horacio Pagani said that the company has put more effort into weight-saving than any other aspect of the design.
A subtle yet sizeable air intake on the roof and across the rear is also visible.

The overall styling also gives a somewhat retro impression, which would certainly help the new Pagani to stand out as much from competitors as its predecessors managed. Also, given the brand track record and if this is indeed the C10, it’s a pretty safe bet that the interior will follow suit.

Although a hybrid powertrain has been rumored for the near future, the C10 is believed to be the last fully combustion-powered car to come from Pagani. The C10 which is said to already be sold out will use a new version of Mercedes-AMG’s 6.0 liter twin-turbocharged V12. Offering as much as a 40bhp increase over the Huayra, Buyers will be offered the option of a manual or a dual-clutch gearbox with shift paddles.
