Many of the world’s most revered and sought-after luxury automobile companies, such as Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, and Bugatti, are based in Europe.
While many of these conventional luxury car brands have been hesitant to enter the luxury electric vehicle market, many new automakers are stepping in to fill the void.
However, we are still waiting for truly luxury electric automobiles to emerge from Europe.
To date, electric automobiles that have hit the market (or are about to do so by next year) are more premium than actual luxury vehicles.
It’ll only be a matter of time before we see a Lamborghini or Ferrari that is entirely electric.
However, for the time being, the majority of completely electric vehicles in Europe come from the larger, more mainstream automobile manufacturers
Jaguar I-Pace EV400
This is where Jaguar comes in. Jaguar is pursuing an aggressive all-electric approach, and the Jaguar I-Pace is a significant step toward realizing that aim. It has a top speed of 124 miles per hour and a range of 225 miles.
Its 0-60 time of roughly 4.7 seconds is sluggish when compared to Tesla’s portfolio, but it is in line with the premium cars we see coming out of Europe
Mini Cooper SE
The Mini Cooper now has its own high-performance electric vehicle, despite the fact that it is no longer a really British company but rather a subsidiary of the German conglomerate BMW.
However, it’s becoming clear that true luxury electric vehicles are only now starting to appear on the market, and the Mini is more high-end than luxury, so including it here is scraping the bottom of the European luxury EV barrel.
The Mini Cooper SE has a range of 115 miles and a top speed of 93 mph, which isn’t amazing but adequate for a city car.
Škoda Enyaq iV RS
The planned koda Enyaq iV RS, expected within months, is the Czech Republic’s first contribution to this list of Europe’s best-performing luxury or premium electric automobiles.
It has a top speed of 112 mph, just like the Volvo XC40. Its 230-mile range, though, will put it ahead of the XC40.
However, its acceleration from 0 to 62 mph takes 6.2 seconds, which is the slowest on this list and slower than the Taycan’s 2.8 seconds.
MG Marvel R
The MG Marvel R, which will be available later this year, will provide purchasers all around the world with another luxury or premium electric car option.
The Marvel R has a top speed of roughly 124 mph, which is very common for luxury European electric cars.
It has a range of roughly 205 miles, barely making it over the 200-mile threshold, and rapid charging technology.
Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo
The Taycan (Turkish for “wild young horse”) is Porsche’s first entirely electric vehicle and has quickly become one of the company’s most popular models, accounting for more than 7% of total sales just a few months after its release.
The Taycan is now Europe’s best-performing electric vehicle, with a top speed of 162mph and a range of 245 miles on a single charge.
The Taycan Cross Turismo, an off-road-ready station wagon variant of Porsche’s Tesla Model S rival, is now available.
Volvo XC40 P8 AWD Recharge
The Volvo XC40 P8 is the pinnacle of Swedish engineering, with top speeds of 112 mph and a range of 205 miles.
Unlike many of the other models on our list, the XC40 is already in production and provides buyers with an SUV alternative in the EV market.
The Volvo XC40 combines the best of Volvo technology with a smooth and comfortable ride, as well as fast-charge technology that allows you to top up in less time than it takes to drink a cup of coffee.
Mercedes EQS 580 4MATIC
The Mercedes EQS, which will be delivered later this year, has a top speed of 130 mph, which puts it just ahead of BMW’s i4.
But one of the car’s most distinguishing features is its maximum range of 390 miles, which is likely to be the longest of any European car.
The Mercedes EQS 580 4MATIC is capable of fast charging and will make long trips a breeze with its extended range.
BMW i4
The BMW i4, BMW’s latest luxury SUV, is set to go into production this year. It will be a touch slower than its Audi e-Tron opponent, with a top speed of 124 mph and a maximum range of 275 miles, but it will have a somewhat longer range.
BMW is making a significant gamble with its new electric portfolio as it attempts to transition away from internal combustion engines and into the rapidly rising electric car industry.
Volkswagen ID.3 Pro Performance
Volkswagen’s top-performing fully electric car, the ID.3 (“ID” stands for “intelligent design”), is just shy of 100 mph with its top speed of 99 mph.
It does, however, have a good range, with a single charge covering 215 miles. Its acceleration from zero to sixty miles per hour is the slowest on the list, taking 7.3 seconds
