If I sent a message on Facebook Messenger and it was just “sent”, and then I deleted it, will the recipient ever receive it?
Well, the answer is yes. Once messages are marked as sent, deleting them won’t stop it from reaching the receiver. Sent Messages are sure to be received by the people you send them to.
The only exception is if you see something like; “failed to send messages” pop-up on your own end then be rest assured that those messages have not been sent and the person you sent it to won’t see them. See: How can People order Food from my Restaurant Through my Facebook Page?
Facebook Messenger at the moment, has no feature that lets you delete messages on both ends. That is to say that you can’t delete messages you sent to people in your inbox and their inbox.
However, since Facebook works on what the majority of the users are complaining about, I believe in the near future, they will include this feature on Messenger so that people would be able to delete messages on both ends. See: How to Block Someone on Facebook Messenger
