Make a simple plan

Passing the BECE is very doable with steady work. Make a simple weekly plan covering all your subjects, and start early — don’t leave it to the last week.

Study by topic

Go through each subject topic by topic in our Study Centre rather than reading randomly, and tick off topics as you understand them.

Focus on English & Maths

English and Mathematics matter most — you need them to pass overall, and a weakness there can mean a re-sit. Give them a little time every day.

Practise questions

Test yourself with timed questions — our free CBT practice is a great way to build speed and confidence, and to get used to answering on a computer. See also using past questions.

Exam-day tips

  • Read the instructions and each question carefully.
  • Manage your time — don’t get stuck on one question.
  • Bring your exam card and materials, and arrive early.
  • Stay calm — you’ve prepared for this.

Do it honestly

Never cheat or rely on “expo” — malpractice can cancel your result. Honest preparation is the surest way to pass.

Quick wins

  • Study a little every day rather than cramming.
  • Ask your teachers when you’re stuck.
  • Get enough rest before each paper.
