How to check your JAMB admission status on CAPS (2026)
CAPS is where all Nigerian admissions are offered and accepted. To check your status:
- Go to the JAMB e-Facility portal at portal.jamb.gov.ng and log in with your email and password.
- Click “Check Admission Status”.
- Select the exam year (2026) and enter your JAMB registration number.
- Open “Access My CAPS” to see your dashboard and current status.
Institutions upload admission lists in stages through the season, so “Not Admitted” often just means “not uploaded yet.” Check CAPS regularly — your status changes as the process moves.

How to accept or reject admission on CAPS
When your status shows “Congratulations, you have been offered admission”, you must respond — the offer is not yours until you accept:
- Log in to CAPS and open your admission status.
- Click Accept to take the offer, or Reject to decline it.
- Confirm your status now reads “Congratulations, you have accepted your admission.”
How to accept admission by SMS (55019 or 66019)
No internet? You can respond by SMS — but only after an offer is already showing on CAPS:
- Use the phone number (SIM) linked to your JAMB profile — another number will not work.
- Text your JAMB registration number + ACCEPT (for example:
202612345678AB ACCEPT) to 55019 or 66019. To decline, send REJECT instead. - Wait for JAMB’s confirmation SMS, then log back into CAPS to confirm and print your letter.
JAMB sometimes adjusts the exact SMS wording between cycles, so check the format shown on your own CAPS dashboard. The SMS costs a small fee and only works when your status already shows an offer — it can’t “create” admission.
How to print your JAMB admission letter
After you accept, print your official admission letter — schools require it for clearance and registration:
- Log in to the JAMB portal and click “Print Admission Letter”.
- Pay the required fee (about ₦1,000 in recent cycles — confirm the current amount on the portal).
- Download the PDF and print it (in colour); keep a soft copy too.
Change of course or institution (CAPS market place)
If your status stays “Not Admitted” and you believe your score fits another course or school — or you’re offered a different course — you have options:
- A different course offered to you: open Transfer Approval on CAPS and accept or reject the proposed course.

This is the most common false alarm. On a phone browser, CAPS often loads in mobile view with the sidebar (and the 'Admission Status' tab) hidden, showing only a Welcome page. Open your browser menu and tick 'Desktop site' to reveal the full menu.
Do I still need to do Post-UTME and school registration after accepting?
Yes. Accepting on CAPS makes the admission yours in JAMB's system, but you must also complete your institution's steps — Post-UTME/screening (before the offer), then acceptance fee, clearance, document verification and school-fee payment (after).
