What is JAMB Direct Entry (DE)?
Direct Entry is an admission route for candidates who already hold an advanced qualification above O'Level. Instead of sitting the UTME, DE candidates use qualifications like A'Level, National Diploma (ND), HND, NCE, IJMB or JUPEB to enter university — usually straight into 200 level, and sometimes 300 level depending on the qualification and course.
Who is eligible for Direct Entry?
- Two or more A'Level passes (GCE/Cambridge) in relevant subjects.
- ND or HND (usually at least Lower Credit) in a related field.
- NCE (Nigeria Certificate in Education) in relevant subjects.
- IJMB or JUPEB results with the required points.
- You must also meet the O'Level (WAEC/NECO) requirement for your course — DE does not replace O'Level credits.

How to register for Direct Entry
- Have your JAMB profile ready (send NIN + your 11-digit NIN to 55019/66019 for your profile code).
- Buy the Direct Entry form (about ₦8,500 in the last cycle) through an official channel.
- Complete DE registration at a JAMB-accredited centre, uploading your advanced qualification and choosing your course and institution.
- Ensure your O'Level result is uploaded to your profile — admission won't process without it.
- Monitor CAPS for your admission status and accept your offer when made.
O'Level, subjects & admission for DE
DE candidates must satisfy the same O'Level and subject requirements as UTME candidates for their course — your advanced qualification is in addition to, not a replacement for, the O'Level credits. Admission is still competitive and processed through CAPS, so choose a course your qualification and O'Level support. Some universities also screen DE candidates.
