What DStv is
DStv is MultiChoice's satellite (DTH) pay-TV service — the widest channel range in Nigeria, with an accompanying streaming layer. It runs on a decoder + dish, and offers six packages at different price points.
The six packages
From most to least expensive (indicative monthly prices — confirm current): Premium (~₦44,500), Compact+ (~₦30,000), Compact (~₦19,000), Confam (~₦11,000), Yanga (~₦6,000), Padi (~₦4,400). Padi, Yanga and Confam replaced older Access/Family bouquets. Higher tiers add more movie, sport and international channels.
Sport & the EPL catch
If live football is your reason to subscribe, check the exact SuperSport channels in your tier before paying. In recent restructures, full English Premier League coverage sits in Compact+ and above (Premium carries the full SuperSport line-up), not the lower tiers. See packages compared.
DStv Stream (no dish)
DStv Stream lets you subscribe and watch without a dish or decoder, over the internet, on phone/tablet/smart TV/browser — from Yanga up to Premium (Padi is decoder-only). Dish subscribers can also stream at no extra cost, and one subscription streams on up to four devices.
How to subscribe
For satellite: buy a decoder + dish and have it installed (line-of-sight to the satellite), then pay for a package. For streaming: sign up on the DStv app or dstv.com/en-ng. Pay via the MyDStv app, bank apps, USSD, or reputable VTU platforms. See how to subscribe & pay.
Self-service
Manage your account, clear errors and reconnect with the MyDStv app or self-care SMS (send the right code to 30330). See self-service & fixing errors.
Tips
- Confirm current prices — they change.
- Sports fan? Check SuperSport channels in your tier.
- No dish? Consider DStv Stream.
The package tiers, at a glance
DStv (MultiChoice) runs a ladder of bouquets from premium down to entry-level — broadly Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, Confam, Yanga and Padi. The higher you go, the more channels and the fuller the SuperSport line-up (the reason many subscribe is live football). Premium tiers now also bundle Showmax. Because prices change and have risen in recent years, pick your tier by what you actually watch — sport-heavy viewers need Compact Plus or above; general family viewing is well served lower down — and always confirm the current price on the payment screen.
Reconnecting after payment
If your decoder doesn't refresh after you pay, a manual re-authorise usually fixes it: send “RA <your smartcard number>” to 30330 from the phone number registered on the account, with the decoder on and tuned to an information channel. Reconnection is normally quick once the signal is clear. Common errors: E16/E48-32 means “not subscribed” (confirm payment cleared, then re-authorise), and a no-signal issue usually points to the dish/cable or passing rain rather than your subscription.
Ways to pay (and self-service)
You have many payment routes: the MyDStv app, the DStv Self-Service website, and USSD *288#; your bank app / bank USSD (via the Cable TV / Pay Bills menu); and fintech and POS agents (OPay, PalmPay, Moniepoint, Kuda and others) for instant top-ups. The MyDStv app and self-service site also let you change bouquet, clear errors and manage your account yourself. Pay a day or two before your due date to avoid any interruption — on expiry you typically keep only the free-to-air NTA channel.
