Please note
Belmadeng is an independent study platform — we are not a recruiter and are not affiliated with any government agency, force or board. Genuine government recruitment is FREE at every stage: never pay anyone to apply, be shortlisted, or be enlisted, and no agent can “guarantee” you a slot. Apply only through official portals, and only when a cycle is officially open — windows open periodically and old links circulate. Portals, dates and requirements change — always confirm on the official channel.
First, a clarification
“NYSC recruitment” can mean two very different things. This page is about working for the NYSC as staff. If you actually mean your own NYSC service (mobilisation, call-up, camp), that's different — see below.
Permanent staff
The NYSC, as a federal agency, occasionally recruits permanent employees across administrative, technical and professional roles. Like other federal agencies, such vacancies are advertised officially and applied for on a portal or specified channel with your CV and credentials.
Ad-hoc staff
Separately, the NYSC and bodies like INEC engage ad-hoc staff — for example, corps members and others engaged for election duty and special exercises, usually for a defined period with an allowance. These are announced per exercise.
How to apply
Watch the NYSC official website and verified channels for genuine staff or ad-hoc vacancies, apply through the stated official method, and never pay a fee. Prepare your CV, credentials and NIN.
If you meant your service
If you're a graduate about to serve — registration, call-up letter, camp, PPA, allowance, certificate — that's your NYSC service, not recruitment. See our full NYSC service guide.
Tips
- Know whether you mean a job or your service.
- Use official NYSC channels.
- Never pay for a role.
What NYSC is
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is Nigeria's compulsory one-year national service for eligible graduates — those who finished a university or polytechnic (HND) programme and are under 30 at graduation. It's not a job you apply for so much as a service obligation you're mobilised into, and its discharge certificate is required for most formal employment in Nigeria (including many of the recruitments elsewhere in this section). Graduates aged 30 or above, or otherwise exempt, receive an exemption certificate instead.
Registering and mobilisation
You register on the official NYSC portal (portal.nysc.org.ng) when your institution mobilises your set, creating an account, completing your details, and printing your call-up letter once posted to a state. Your institution must have uploaded your details (senate/academic board approval) for you to be mobilised, so ensure your records are correct. Mobilisation happens in batches (streams) through the year. Follow only the official portal and your institution's NYSC coordinator for accurate timelines.
Service, clearance and beyond
Service runs in stages: the three-week orientation camp, then primary assignment (your posting to an employer for the year) plus community development service (CDS), and finally passing out with your discharge certificate. Corps members receive a monthly allowance. Beyond the standard service, NYSC also engages ad-hoc staff (for example for national elections) — a separate, temporary opportunity. Keep your clearance up to date throughout, and safeguard your discharge certificate, since you'll need it for employment and further recruitment.
