Who can register for JAMB (eligibility & the age rule)
You can register for the UTME if you have completed (or are completing) your senior secondary education and will meet your target course's O'Level requirement. JAMB applies a minimum age policy — in recent cycles candidates are expected to be about 16 by admission; under-age candidates may only be considered under strict conditions. How to register for JAMB, step by step
- Create your JAMB profile / get your profile code. Send NIN (space) your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN. You'll receive your 10-digit profile code. Stuck? See profile code not received.
- Buy your JAMB e-PIN. Pay for the e-PIN (the registration form) through an official channel — the JAMB portal, a bank, or an approved payment operator — using your profile code. Keep your transaction reference.
- Go to an accredited CBT centre. Take your profile code and e-PIN to a JAMB-accredited CBT centre to complete registration. (Registration must be done at an accredited centre for proper biometrics.)
- Enter your details & choices. Fill in your bio-data exactly as on your NIN, choose your institutions and course, and select your four subjects (Use of English + three). Opt in for the mock exam here if you want it.
- Do your biometrics. Capture your fingerprints and photograph — this is required to sit the exam.
- Print your e-slip / registration slip. Confirm all details are correct, then print your registration slip (it carries your registration number). Later, print your examination slip for your exam date, time and centre.

The main cost is the e-PIN (registration form) — about ₦4,700 in the last cycle, which typically bundles a small service fee and the reading text. Optional extras include the mock exam (about ₦1,000–₦1,500, only if you opt in). CBT centres may charge a small, regulated service fee. Common mistakes to avoid
