The NIS runs passport offices across the states and the FCT, plus embassies and consulates abroad. You choose where to do your biometric capture when applying.
Booking an appointment
After paying, use the portal’s “Book appointment” option to schedule your biometric session at your chosen centre. Appointments are part of the official process — you don’t need a tout.
Find the earliest date
The portal lets you check the earliest available appointment date for each processing centre — useful because busy centres (like major cities) fill up. A nearby, less-busy centre may be faster.
Choosing a centre
Pick a centre that is convenient and has available slots. If your preferred office is fully booked, consider an alternative centre.
On the day
Arrive on time with your documents and reference for fingerprints and photo capture. Then track your application.
Tips
- Book early — appointment scarcity is the main delay.
- Check the earliest date across a few centres.
- Bring all documents to avoid a wasted trip.
