Frequently asked questions

How much is a Nigerian passport in 2026?
For applications within Nigeria (from 1 September 2025): ₦100,000 for the 32-page, 5-year booklet and ₦200,000 for the 64-page, 10-year booklet. Diaspora applicants pay $150 and $230 respectively.
Where do I apply for a Nigerian passport?
On the official NIS portal at passport.immigration.gov.ng (or the official NIS Mobile app). Applications start online, but biometric capture is done in person at a passport office, embassy or consulate.
Is NIN required for a Nigerian passport?
Yes — a valid NIN is mandatory and is verified against the NIMC database. Applications without a NIN are not processed.
