Please note
Belmadeng is an independent study platform and is not affiliated with WAEC. This is an informational guide — register and check results only on the official WAEC websites (waec.org.ng and waecdirect.org), buy result-checker PINs only from authorised vendors, and never enter your details on look-alike sites.
What you need
- Your 10-digit examination number (a 7-digit centre number + your 3-digit candidate number).
- Your examination year and type (WASSCE School / May–June, or WASSCE Private / GCE).
- A result checker PIN and serial number, from a scratch card or an e-PIN.
How to check (step by step)
- Go to the official portal, waecdirect.org.
- Enter your 10-digit examination number exactly.
- Select the correct examination year and type.
- Enter your PIN and serial number (don’t swap the fields).
- Click Submit and wait, then print or screenshot your result.
Scratch card vs e-PIN
A scratch card is a physical card with a PIN and serial number. An e-PIN is the same thing bought online and delivered by SMS/email. Buy either only from authorised vendors — a fake or already-used card is a common cause of failure.
Check by SMS
You can also check by SMS: send WAEC*ExamNo*PIN*ExamYear to 32327 (MTN, Glo and Airtel). Standard SMS charges apply.
How many checks per PIN
Each PIN lets you check a result up to five (5) times. After five uses it stops working, so save or print your result the first time.
If your result won’t show
- Wrong examination number — the number-one cause; re-check every digit.
- Wrong year or exam type selected.
- PIN already used five times, or a fake/used card.
- The portal is overloaded on result-release day — wait an hour and retry.
- Your result shows “withheld” — that is a WAEC status issue, not a PIN problem; see our withheld results guide.
More fixes in our result not showing guide.
Stay safe from scam sites
Only use waecdirect.org. Look-alike sites steal PINs and money — ignore links from strangers, and never pay anyone to “upgrade” a result (that is fraud).
What you need to check your result
WAEC results are checked on the official result portal (waecdirect.org). Have ready: your 10-digit examination number (your 7-digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number), the examination year, the type/diet (School Candidate for May/June, Private Candidate for GCE), and a result-checker serial number and PIN (e-PIN). Enter each detail carefully, then submit to view your grades — save or print them for records and JAMB/admission uploads. Note an e-PIN can be used a limited number of times but only for one candidate's examination number.
Retrieving your serial and PIN
Two ways to get your e-PIN: buy a fresh one (via the official WAEC channel — e.g. the “Buy WAEC Result Checker” option — or from banks and authorised agents), or retrieve one online using WAEC's serial/PIN retrieval service, where you enter your examination details and the NIN used at registration and receive an OTP to generate a serial number and PIN. The retrieval option is handy if you're eligible, avoiding a separate purchase. Confirm the current e-PIN price on the official channel, since pricing can change.
Avoiding result-checker scams
Result season attracts fraud, so be careful: use only the official portal — waecdirect.org — and type the address yourself, because look-alike sites exist to steal your PIN and money; buy e-PINs only from WAEC's official channel, banks or authorised agents; and ignore anyone promising cheap PINs, to “log in for you,” or to “upgrade” grades — no one can legitimately change a result. Confirm every digit of your details before submitting, since repeated wrong attempts can consume an e-PIN's permitted uses.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check my WAEC result online in 2026?
Go to waecdirect.org, enter your 10-digit exam number, select the year and exam type, enter your PIN and serial number, and click Submit.
Can I check my WAEC result without a scratch card?
You need a PIN either way — buy an e-PIN online (delivered by SMS/email) if you don’t have a physical scratch card. There is no free method that bypasses the PIN.
How many times can I use a WAEC result checker PIN?
Up to five times. After five checks the PIN stops working, so save or print your result.
How do I check my WAEC result by SMS?
Send WAEC*ExamNo*PIN*ExamYear to 32327 on MTN, Glo or Airtel; standard SMS charges apply.
Why is my WAEC result not showing?
Usually a wrong exam number, wrong year/type, a PIN used five times, or portal overload on release day. If it says ‘withheld’, that is a WAEC status issue to resolve with WAEC.
How do I check my WAEC result?
On the official portal waecdirect.org: enter your 10-digit examination number, select the year and type/diet (School or Private), and enter your result-checker serial number and PIN, then submit. Save or print your grades for records and JAMB/admission uploads.
What do I need to check my WAEC result?
Your 10-digit examination number (7-digit centre number + 3-digit candidate number), the examination year, the type/diet (School Candidate or Private/GCE), and a result-checker serial number and PIN (e-PIN). An e-PIN works a limited number of times but only for one candidate's number.
How do I get a WAEC result-checker PIN?
Either buy a fresh e-PIN (via WAEC's official 'Buy WAEC Result Checker' channel, banks, or authorised agents) or retrieve one online using WAEC's serial/PIN retrieval service — entering your exam details and the NIN used at registration to receive an OTP and generate a serial and PIN.
How many times can I use a WAEC e-PIN?
An e-PIN (or older scratch card) can be used a limited number of times, but only for a single candidate's examination number — each candidate needs their own. Confirm every detail before submitting, since wrong attempts can consume the permitted uses.
How do I avoid WAEC result scams?
Use only the official portal (waecdirect.org), typing the address yourself to avoid look-alike sites; buy e-PINs only from WAEC's official channel, banks or authorised agents; and ignore anyone offering cheap PINs, to log in for you, or to 'upgrade' grades — no one can legitimately change a result.
