Who registers

The BECE is for students in their final year of junior secondary school, JSS3. Registration is handled by your school — individual students do not register themselves.

How registration works

  1. Your school registers its JSS3 candidates on the relevant portal (NECO’s portal for the federal BECE; the state board’s system for the state BECE).
  2. Each candidate’s bio-data, photograph and subjects are entered.
  3. The school pays and submits, and candidates receive their exam/registration details.

The fee

The 2026 NECO BECE registration fee is ₦8,700 per candidate. State BECE fees are set by each state and vary. Fees change — confirm the current amount with your school and the official body.

Deadlines

Registration windows are announced each year and close well before the exam (for the 2026 NECO BECE, registration closed in early April, with the exam in late April). Schools should register early — once the window closes, options are very limited.
