Free money first
As a student, always chase money you don't repay before borrowing: scholarships and grants. They're competitive, but a win beats any loan.
Scholarships
Look at government scholarships (federal & state), agency awards like PTDF (oil & gas fields), and company/foundation scholarships. Keep strong grades and apply to several.
When a loan makes sense
If scholarships don't cover you, the NELFUND student loan is interest-free and only repaid after NYSC — far safer than commercial loans. Remember it's a loan, not a grant.
If you run a side hustle
Student entrepreneurs can look at business grants and, later, youth funding like NYIF (a loan) — build a real, fundable venture and prepare your CAC and plan.
Applying smartly
Prepare documents once (results, NIN, statement of purpose), track windows, avoid scams, and apply widely. Studying for JAMB first? Use our CBT practice and course library.
