Please note

Belmadeng is an independent study platform and is not affiliated with NYIF, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, the CBN or NMFB. This is general information, not financial advice. Application windows open periodically (the portal is not always open) — use only the current official portal, beware fake NYIF websites, and remember applying is free (no one legitimate charges a fee). Amounts, portals and terms change — confirm current details officially.

First: is a window open?

NYIF registration is not always open — it runs in application windows/batches. Many old links keep circulating; don't treat an old announcement as a live window. Confirm a current, open window on the official channel first.

Use the current official portal

Apply only on the current official portal. Historically applications ran via NMFB (nyif.nmfb.com.ng) and the Ministry site; in 2026 the Ministry introduced a new Youth Investment Development (YID) portal (yid.fmyd.gov.ng). Always verify the current official URL — see the portal guide.

Step-by-step

  1. Register/create an account with your personal and business details.
  2. Complete the online application form (business info, financial projections, market analysis, strategy).
  3. Upload required documents — NIN, BVN and your business plan.
  4. Submit and note your reference.

Your business plan

A clear, viable business plan is central to approval — it should show your idea's viability and growth potential.

After applying

Applications are screened; shortlisted applicants complete a short training before any disbursement. Track your status on the portal.

Tips

  • Only apply in a confirmed open window.
  • Use the current official portal — not old links.
  • Applying is free.

Who runs NYIF

The Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) is a Federal Government initiative of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD), with disbursement and loan management handled by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) through NIRSAL Microfinance Bank (NMFB). Launched with seed capital of ₦110 billion, its purpose is to finance youth-owned businesses, cut youth unemployment and create jobs. Knowing this matters because it tells you where the official process lives — FMYD and NIRSAL MFB, not any “agent.”

The application steps

Applications are online through the official NYIF portal. The general flow:

  1. Create an account with a valid email and phone number.
  2. Complete the online application form — your details and your business information (nature, financial projections, market analysis).
  3. Upload documents — NIN, BVN, your business plan and any others required.
  4. Submit, then track progress on your dashboard.

Applications are reviewed by NIRSAL MFB, and only solid, viable business cases are approved.

Complete the training first

A step many applicants overlook: NYIF expects you to complete its entrepreneurship training as part of qualifying for a loan. The training is designed to strengthen your business skills and your plan, and completing it (and getting the certificate) signals you're serious and prepared. Treat it as an integral part of the application, not an optional extra — and remember the whole process is free; anyone charging you is running a scam.
