NYIF Portal (& Avoiding Fake Sites)

Where to actually apply — and how to avoid the many fake NYIF sites.

Please note

Belmadeng is an independent study platform and is not affiliated with NYIF, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, the CBN or NMFB. This is general information, not financial advice. Application windows open periodically (the portal is not always open) — use only the current official portal, beware fake NYIF websites, and remember applying is free (no one legitimate charges a fee). Amounts, portals and terms change — confirm current details officially.

The official channels

NYIF is run by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD) with the CBN, and historically disbursed via NIRSAL Microfinance Bank (NMFB). Applications historically ran on nyif.nmfb.com.ng and the Ministry site.

The 2026 YID portal

In 2026 the Ministry introduced a new Youth Investment Development (YID) portal at yid.fmyd.gov.ng to manage fresh applications and updates. Always confirm the current official URL before applying.

Why old links circulate

Because the scheme has run in several batches over years, old registration links and announcements keep circulating online. An old link is not a live window — verify the current status on the official Ministry channel.

Spotting fake sites

  • Non-official domains (not .gov.ng).
  • Requests for a “registration/processing fee”.
  • “Guaranteed” approval, WhatsApp/Facebook “portals”, urgency.

Applying is free

Applying is free and no one can guarantee your loan for money — see avoiding scams.

Tips

  • Verify the current .gov.ng portal.
  • Ignore old links and social-media “portals”.
  • Never pay to apply.

The official NYIF portal

NYIF applications run through the official government portal, operated by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD) in partnership with NIRSAL Microfinance Bank. One thing to know: the portal address has changed over time as the scheme has been updated (it has been hosted under NIRSAL MFB and under FMYD domains). Because of this, always confirm the current official link from FMYD's official channels before you register — don't rely on an old bookmark or a link forwarded to you.

Avoid fake portals

Popular government loan schemes attract fake look-alike websites built to harvest your NIN, BVN and login details, or to charge bogus “application” fees. Protect yourself: reach the portal from FMYD's official channels, check the address carefully, and never enter your details on a site you arrived at via an unsolicited SMS, WhatsApp or social-media link. If a “portal” asks you to pay to apply or promises guaranteed approval, it's a scam — close it.

Access is free

Using the NYIF portal — registering, applying, checking your status — is completely free. There's no charge to create an account or submit an application, and no legitimate “agent” can get you a slot for a fee. Keep your login details private, never share your password or OTP, and do everything yourself through the official site. If you hit a genuine technical problem, use only the official support contacts listed on FMYD's channels.

The scheme has run in several batches over years, so old registration links and announcements keep circulating — an old link isn't a live window.
How do I spot a fake NYIF site?
Non-official (non-.gov.ng) domains, requests for a registration/processing fee, 'guaranteed' approval, and social-media 'portals' are red flags.

How do I spot a fake NYIF website?
Fake look-alike sites arrive via unsolicited SMS, WhatsApp or social-media links and try to harvest your NIN/BVN/login or charge bogus fees. Reach the portal only from FMYD's official channels, check the address, and never pay to apply or enter details on a site you reached from a message.
Is the NYIF portal free to use?
