How much is the NYSC allowance in 2026?
The federal monthly allowance (“allawee”) is ₦77,000, paid to every serving corps member regardless of state, course or Place of Primary Assignment. It was increased from ₦33,000 in March 2025.
Why ₦77,000?
The corps allowance is pegged to the National Minimum Wage plus 10%. When the minimum wage rose to ₦70,000 under the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, the allowance was set at ₦70,000 × 1.10 = ₦77,000.
When it’s paid
The federal allowance is normally paid between the 25th and 30th of each month by NYSC. Delays can occasionally push payment into the first days of the next month.
State & PPA top-ups
Some state governments add a top-up on top of the federal allowance — anywhere from a token amount to tens of thousands of naira — while many pay little or nothing. Your PPA may also pay a stipend. Treat the ₦77,000 federal figure as your base and any state/PPA payment as a bonus; top-ups vary and change often, so confirm with your Local Government Inspector (LGI).

- Make sure your monthly clearance is done — unpaid clearance blocks payment.
- Confirm your bank details on the portal are correct.
- Check with your LGI; delays are common during processing.
