Standard (green) passports

The everyday Nigerian passport is the standard green booklet, available as:

  • 32-page, 5-year validity — ₦100,000.
  • 64-page, 10-year validity — ₦200,000.

(A 64-page/5-year option has also existed.) More pages mean more room for visas and stamps.

The enhanced e-passport

The Enhanced E-Passport is the upgraded booklet with polycarbonate technology for better security and durability, and a 10-year validity option that saves frequent trips to passport offices.

Official & diplomatic

Official (blue) and Diplomatic passports are issued only to government officials and diplomats — they are not part of the standard public application.

Which should you choose?

  • 32-page (5-year): lower cost — good if you travel occasionally.
  • 64-page (10-year): more pages and longer validity — best for frequent travellers who fill pages quickly and want fewer renewals.

ECOWAS travel

The Nigerian passport lets you travel across ECOWAS member states in West Africa.

Tips

  • Frequent traveller? The 64-page/10-year usually pays off.
  • Keep at least six months’ validity for most international travel.
