How NECO works

NECO runs two O’Level routes: the SSCE Internal for SS3 school candidates (June/July) and the SSCE External (GCE) for private candidates (November/December). You sit your papers per the timetable — now computer-based — then check your result at results.neco.gov.ng using a 12-digit token. You read it on the A1–F9 scale, collect your certificate, and use your credits for admission. NECO also runs the NCEE for entry into Federal Unity Colleges.

What is the official NECO result website?
The official result portal is results.neco.gov.ng, and the main NECO site is neco.gov.ng. Buy your result token only on the official portal and ignore look-alike sites.
Is NECO accepted like WAEC for admission?
Yes — JAMB and Nigerian universities, polytechnics and colleges accept NECO on equal terms with WAEC, and you can usually combine a NECO result with a WAEC result to make up your five credits.
What exams does NECO conduct?
The SSCE Internal (June/July, for SS3 school candidates), the SSCE External/GCE (November/December, for private candidates), the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for Federal Unity Colleges, and the BECE.
